When you are feeling overwhelmed, it can be all-consuming.  It can be difficult to think and act rationally.  Worry and feelings of anxiety can start to set in and control you.  There is a choice to be made.  A choice to give in to those feelings or a choice to set your hearts and minds on things above. (Colossians 3:2) Whenever your circumstances seem big and impossible, remember that you serve a big God who can do the impossible! Stay close to Him through prayer, worship, and reading His Word!

Here are some scriptures to encourage you when you feel overwhelmed:

THE BEST SCRIPTURES WHEN YOU ARE FEELING OVERWHELMED

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” Psalm 112:7

“‘Because he loves me,’ says the Lord, ‘I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.’” Psalm 91:14-16

“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.” Psalm 119:114

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:25-27

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:10-12

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13

If you having trouble praying during this season and need some inspiration, then I suggest the book by Anne Graham Lotz called The Light of His Presence: Prayers to Draw Near to the Heart of God. (affiliate link) It was recommended to me recently and has truly helped me in my prayer life.  There have been so many times when I have bowed my head to pray and have been at a loss for words.  You wouldn’t think I would ever be at a loss for words but when those moments happen, I will read one of Anne’s prayers and be inspired to pray my own!
